Mission Statement

The mission of the Public Safety Department in Paden City is to ensure the safety and well-being of our community through effective emergency response, crime prevention, and public safety initiatives. We are committed to maintaining a secure environment for all residents and visitors.

Major Responsibilities

  • Fire Department: The Fire Department is dedicated to protecting lives and property from fire hazards, providing emergency medical services, and delivering community education on fire safety. Our team is trained in various specialized areas including fire suppression, rescue operations, and hazardous materials response.
  • Police Department: The Police Department is tasked with enforcing laws, preventing crime, and maintaining public order. Our officers work to ensure a safe community through patrols, investigations, and engagement with the public. The department also manages traffic enforcement and responds to emergencies.
  • Public Safety Director: The Public Safety Director oversees the Fire and Police Departments as well as the Building and Code Enforcement Divisions. The director is responsible for addressing traffic and parking issues, coordinating sign installations with the Street Superintendent, and serving on the Board of Control.

Standard Services Provided

  • Fire Department Services: Emergency fire response, medical emergencies, fire safety inspections, public education, and community outreach programs.
  • Police Department Services: Law enforcement, traffic management, criminal investigations, emergency response, and community policing.
  • Public Safety Director Services: Coordination of public safety operations, approval of permits for barricades and street/curb cuts, issuance of various licenses including ambulance and parking lot permits, and oversight of special events and programs.

Areas of Service Not Generally Known

  • Fire Department: Specialized services such as confined space rescue and water rescue, and maintenance of fire hydrants.
  • Police Department: Assistance with state agencies, planning and support for local events, and providing psychological support and referrals through a “Social Worker” program.
  • Public Safety Director: Management of the litter prevention and recycling programs, and scheduling and coordinating special event banners.
