Mission Statement
The Paden City Public Safety Director is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the community by coordinating the efforts of police, fire, and building/code enforcement services. The role involves overseeing public safety initiatives, managing traffic and parking regulations, and addressing community safety concerns.
Major Responsibilities
- Sign Coordination: Manages the installation of traffic, handicap, and speed limit signs in collaboration with the Street Superintendent.
- Traffic and Parking: Addresses traffic and parking issues to ensure smooth and safe transportation within the city.
- Division Oversight: Supervises the Police, Fire, and Building/Code Enforcement Divisions to ensure effective operations and responses.
- Board of Control: Serves on the Board of Control to assist in the governance and decision-making processes related to public safety.
Standard Services Provided
- Licenses and Permits: Issues various licenses including ambulance, arcade, carnival, parking lot, sidewalk, skating rink, theater, tree, and taxi.
- Barricade Permits and Street/Curb Cuts: Approves permits for barricades and street/curb cuts to facilitate construction and events.
- Weed Control Program: Manages the city’s weed control program to maintain public spaces.
Areas of Service Not Generally Known
- Special Events: Grants permissions for parades, bike races, and other special events, and oversees the coordination of banners for such occasions.
- Junk Yard Licenses: Issues licenses for junk yards within city limits.
- Litter Prevention/Recycling Program: Oversees the management of the city’s litter prevention and recycling programs.
